Hi there! I’m Eleanor, a 20-something writer and communications professional based in Toronto, Canada. When I was growing up, I was often “the environment person”—the one who led the school environment club and brought a reusable water bottle everywhere.
I’m vegetarian, am renting a room in a house and don’t own a car. Though I’m not perfect, I strive to live sustainably. I wanted to make deeper changes to my lifestyle and inspire and educate others to reduce their carbon footprint as well.
I’m currently working in communications for a non-profit. Besides writing, I enjoy cooking, reading, playing the violin, going for walks and travelling.
I’ll be writing about reducing waste (particularly food waste), saving energy and water, and other steps you can take toward a sustainable lifestyle.
This blog is for you if …
- You’re new to sustainability and are wondering how to get started on helping the planet
- You’ve been thinking about these things for a while but want a community for sharing ideas and asking questions
Why Steps Toward Sustainability?
I chose this name because it emphasizes movement and progress over perfection. I don’t mean steps like the steps in a recipe. After all, there’s no one-size-fits-all checklist for living sustainably. However, we can all take actions to live more lightly on the earth.
There’s always more that we can do to reduce our ecological footprint and fight climate change. Let’s see that as an opportunity and go on a journey of environmental learning and action together!
